MANDARINS CRICKET CLUB 2006 SUMMARY

Note on sources:  Records for 2 games, Old Tiffinians and Kennington, are missing from the scorebook. The Ollie Gardiner career record file does not include them so no “plausible reconstruction technique” is possible. There is a match report for Kennington. However the averages do not record 14 uncredited appearances, or the scores in these two games.

Played 25, Won 8, Drew 5, Lost 12, Abandoned (42%)

Heaviest Victories: By 5 wickets vs Thursley; By 91 runs vs Essex U.

Narrowest Victory: By 1 wicket vs Charlatans; by 25 runs vs Brill.

Heaviest defeats: By 90 runs vs Pink Elephants; by 8 wickets vs Jesus College.

Closest defeats: by 15 runs vs Elstead; by 1 wicket vs Clayesmore and Kennington.

Highest score for 239 for 7 vs Lords and Commons. Highest score against 264 for 5 by Lords and Commons.

Lowest score for 26 vs East Horsley (Lowest ever Mandarin Score?). Lowest score against Brightwell 130.

Mandarins scored 15 Fifties, not exceeded since. There were no centuries. Highest score Chris Healey 96*  vs Thursley. Mandarins took one five-for, Best Bowling Chris Baker, 9-0-64-6 vs Hetaroi.

Notable events: At least 58 players turned out, 15 of them just once. Collapses: East Horsley, see above. 10 for 26, from 10 for 1 to 10 for 5. 7 different fielders took a catch at Brightwell (record?) but 4 were dropped. 8 different wicket keepers took stumpings (surely a record?)Vs Monks Risborough Mandarins conceded only 2 extras out of 188 – a record? (Wilmot was keeping). There were a number of very close games. Besides the three 1 wicket margins, two draws finished with 9 down in the last over.
