There were two 5-fers. Best bowling was Ramani, 8-2-23-6 vs Brill. Owen Jackson took 9-1-39-6 vs Brixton Barbarians. Rangarajan took 4 for 6 vs Brightwell, and 4 for 12 against us, playing for Brixton Barbarians.
Notable Events
66 players turned out for the Mandarins (2024, 64) of whom 23 appeared just once. Worst collapses were 9 for 20, (3rd worst of all time); 8 for 13 (2nd worst); 7 for 8 (=2nd worst) vs Millfelds, plus 9 for 37 and 8 for 23 vs Weekenders. The 45 scored against Millfields was the 8th lowest score in club records. The 287 for 5 scored against us by Graces was the 4th highest score conceded in club records, until it was eclipsed by the 292 for six scored by ODB.
More positive, the 223 for 4 scored to beat North Enfield was the equal 2nd highest run chase in club records, and the 127 added by Harry and Dan the highest partnership for the first wicket since 2004 and the 9th highest ever. Harry’s 126 vs SMCC was the highest individual score since David Williams 133 in 2010, and the 7th highest ever by a Mandarin. His 10 sixes is a very likely record, tbc idc. The 136 added by Kishen and Rakesh for the 5th wicket vs Abinger was the 2nd highest in cub records for that wicket. There were 21 50 plus partnerships, nine featuring Rakesh. The 9th wicket club record was broken by him and Rob Eastaway vs Brixton Barbarians, adding 88.
Johnny Extras had another exceptional season, scoring 43 vs Brill (!) in a 12 run victory, and 23 vs Heber in a 21 run victory. He/she/they/it accumulated 552 at an average of 25. Vs Erratics we conceded no extras at all in a total of 138 – very rare. Rakesh aggregated 447 and Kishen 443. These were the highest aggregates since Chris Healey’s 518 in 2009, and Kishen’s 5 50s the most since 2003. Kishen would have equalled Raki’s aggregate if his first potential boundary vs HMT had not been stopped by hitting a goose – did Bradman have this problem? Mandarins recorded 31 ducks (same as last year out of 188 completed innings, 16.56%, vs historic average of 14.45%. Rakesh also broke the record for most catches in a season by a pure outfielder, 14.
